The current implementation of the ConfirmAccount extension does not allow the hiding of email addresses from wiki staff. As we don't control who are staff members on individual wikis, the only way we could provide this extension is to either hide the email field completely or roll it into the 'requestips' userright, which can be denied from user groups.

As both of these methods require changes to the extension code, it would have to be reapplied every time it's updated, unless the change is pushed into the official repo.

The extension requires an email address from the applicant to work, so we cannot simply remove the field from the application form.
